Memorial Hospital Welcomes New Senior Leader Douglas J. BeMent named Chief Financial Officer
September 5, 2014Eric Deaton, Market Chief Executive Officer for LifePoint Hospitals® South Central Virginia Market (which includes Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County) today announced the appointment of Douglas J. BeMent as Memorial Hospital’s new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) effective September 29. BeMent will oversee the hospitals financial operations, providing day-to-day leadership and accountability for all financial areas.
BeMent comes to Memorial Hospital from Warsaw, Indiana, where he recently served as Chief Financial Officer for Kosciusko Community Hospital, a 72 bed acute care hospital with 18 affiliated outpatient locations. Prior to that, BeMent served as Chief Financial Officer for Bluffton Medical Center in Bluffton, Indiana, and before that Assistant Chief Financial Officer at Kosciusko Community Hospital. He has held other financial leadership roles in healthcare organizations in Indiana and Michigan.

BeMent holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Financial Administration from Michigan State University (Lansing, Michigan), and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, Michigan). He has been active in the communities he has lived, serving on the local YMCA Board of Directors and serving as a leader with Boy Scouts of America to name a few. In his free time, BeMent enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends. He and his family (wife Cynthia and daughter Alexa) are in the process of relocating to the area.
