Memorial Hospital’s HomeCare and Hospice now operating under new healthcare partnership

January 10, 2017

Martinsville, VA (January 10, 2017) – HomeCare of Memorial Hospital and Legacy Hospice of the Piedmont today announced that it has joined a larger network of home health and hospice service agencies across the nation. This new partnership will allow its team to enhance and expand their services to better meet the needs of people throughout Martinsville and Henry County and the surrounding region.

Effective January 1, 2017, HomeCare of Memorial Hospital and Legacy Hospice of the Piedmont transitioned ownership and management to a joint venture of LifePoint Health, the parent company of Memorial Hospital of Martinsville & Henry County, and LHC Group, a leading post-acute care provider offering home health and hospice care, long-term acute care and community-based services across the country. This joint venture will operate all of LifePoint’s home health agencies and hospices nationwide. The innovative new partnership between LifePoint and LHC Group brings together the capabilities of two experienced healthcare organizations and will enable the development and expansion of home health and hospice services throughout the communities they serve.

“LHC Group and LifePoint Health share a commitment to community,” said Keith Myers, LHC Group chairman and CEO. “We also believe that our most important mission is to help make communities like Martinsville and Henry County healthier and happier – and to do so in the familiar and comforting surroundings of the place they call home.”

Under the new ownership model, there will be no interruption in service or in the timeliness or quality of care provided by the home health and hospice professionals at HomeCare and Legacy Hospice. The agencies will continue serving patients in Martinsville, Henry County, Patrick County and portions of Franklin County and Pittsylvania County from its current location at 320 Hospital Drive in Martinsville, and there will be no changes in contact information. All staff also will remain the same.

“Home health and hospice care is vital in today’s healthcare environment, and there is a growing need for this kind of care in Virginia,” said David Dill, president and chief operating officer of LifePoint. “We are delighted to partner with LHC Group, which is a leader in home health and hospice care, to explore ways to strengthen home health and hospice services across Southern Virginia, and expand the support we offer patients and their families at home.”

LHC Group maintains 133 hospital and health system partnered home health and hospice locations, and more than 300 post-acute care locations across 26 states. LifePoint currently operates 20 home health and 10 hospice locations within its network of more than 70 hospitals in 22 states.
